Madurai HC tosses out couple’s petition claiming Dhanush was their son

The Madurai Bench of the Chennai High Court has tossed out a petition of a Thirubhuvanam-based couple who claimed that the national award-winning actor Dhanush was actually their son who deserted them many years back.

Hailing from Thirubhuvanam, Kathiresan and Meetnatchi filed a case late last year with the Sessions Court in Melur claiming Dhanush was their ‘missing son’ who disappeared way back in 2001. They also filed copies of school/transfer certificates to prove their claim and demanded that Dhanush should pay them a maintenance sum of Rs.65,000/- per month to meet their day-to-day expenses.

Dhanush moved the Madurai Bench of Chennai High Court requesting the Court quash the couple’s petition which only possessed concocted facts. The Court also ordered that birthmarks on Dhanush’s body be checked as cited in the couple’s petition. It was found that the birthmarks were missing as ‘laser treatment’ had been done on the actor’s body.

The couple said it was even ready to undergo DNA test to establish the fact was Dhanush was actually their son. Trial had been completed in the case and judgment was pronounced at 10:00 a.m. yesterday when the Court quashed the couple’s petition, thus bringing the curtains down in the case which had been dragging for months together.
